Do you ever wonder what happened to the poetry and music in Sonoma? The mystery is solved. Sonoma County 2005-06 Library Slam Champion, Juanita J. Martin, is bringing poetry and music back to Sonoma.
The Barking Dog Café, 18133 Hwy. 12, is now home for Martin’s brand of café-style entertainment called UniverSoul. The name reflects the universality of the poetry and music in one diversified voice of creative expression. Martin will serve as producer and host for this venue.
There is no charge for this monthly event, but Martin hopes everyone will support the café. In addition, Martin asks patrons to support the venue and artists by giving a free-will donation and purchase books, CDs, etc. Martin invites all poets, singers and musicians to “ jam “ with her on the first Saturday of each month from 5-8 p.m.
The next event is Mar. 1. For more information, please call Juanita J. Martin at 707.435.1807, email at
