Last Monday, Flowery School celebrated Dr. Seuss’ birthday and Read Across America Day in a very special way. During a school-wide assembly, each grade level “performed” their favorite Dr. Seuss book or silly poem by reading excerpts, showing off posters, reciting poetry and even yelling whether they liked “huevos verdes con jamón.” The highlight of the assembly was a performance of the song, “Oh The Thinks You Can Think” from the Broadway Bound Kids production of “Seussical the Musical” by a group of students from Sonoma Valley High School, Adele Harrison and Flowery.
Following the upbeat assembly, the teens from SVHS and Adele read aloud Dr. Seuss books in classrooms throughout the school. When asked how Flowery could repay them for their time and effort, Taylor Barker, a senior at SVHS, stated, “Just coming here was enough!” A special thanks goes to Barker, Ron Perkins (the Cat in the Hat), Nikki Differding, Leanne Woods, Keenan Tuohy and Kamryn Barker for making the day great for the Flowery students.
Flowery is a dual immersion school partnering with the Adele Harrison Middle School dual immersion program to educate children for success in a global society. For more information about Flowery or dual immersion, call 935-6060 or go to floweryschool.org.
