At their closed session meetings on Friday, the five elected trustees of the Sonoma Valley Unified School District interviewed four candidates to succeed retiring superintendent Barbara Young. All of them were, according to board president Cam Hawing, “intelligent and capable.”
Hawing said that the board has selected a single finalist, with whom they are negotiating the terms of a tentative contract. A visit by several board members to that candidate’s present district, in order to interview staff and board members there, is planned within the next week. Only after that would the trustees be ready to make a final decision, and announce their selection.
