Sonoma discount drug program

The Sonoma County Board of Supervisors has approved an agreement with National Association of Counties (NACo) to bring its Prescription Drug Discount program to Sonoma County residents. District 1 Supervisor Valerie Brown helped launch the program at a meeting at Vintage House Senior Center on Wednesday.
The drug discount cards, called “Sonoma County Rx,” are available at over 20 distributions sites throughout the county, including libraries and senior centers. Consumers can simply bring their cards to any participating retail pharmacy and obtain a discount on their prescription drugs not covered by insurance. There are no age, health or income restrictions on who can use the cards and there are no registration forms to fill out.
The program offers an immediate, at-the-register discounts on prescription drug purchases through a nationwide network of 57,000 participating pharmacists that includes most retail pharmacies in Sonoma County. “You can even use this card for prescription coverage for your pets,” said Brown.
