Of all the rites of spring, the one that brings the most joy is giving your home a fresh look, especially on the inside.
“A new season invites changes to your home and spring calls for delicate colors and soft fabrics,” said Francie Skaates, interior designer and owner of H Frank in Sonoma. “The easiest and quickest way to bring about fresh new look is to paint your walls with one of the hottest seasonal colors like robin’s egg blue, pale yellow, sage green or, for the more daring, lavender.”
New furniture makes for an impressive transition to a new season. At H Frank, one of the most popular sofas offers down seating and is available in a number of different fabrics.  The sofa displayed in the store is an earthy blend of sage green with hints of poppy yellow. Two of the four accent pillows are covered in sweet sunflowers and the other two in soothing stripes.
The Corner Store in Sonoma offers a delightful selection of table linens to help you bring indoors the colors of spring. Lisa Corti Home is a collection of printed tablecloths that are hand made in Italy using hand-carved blocks that are dyed and then pressed, one by one, on the cloth. Their whimsical designs and bold colors will brighten any dining room or kitchen.
Robin’s Nest stocks a collection of Le Souk dinnerware that would work perfectly with the Lisa Corti table linens. The pieces feature many of the dusky shades of spring and are adorned with hand-painted figs, melons, oranges and peaches. Included in the collection are square dinner plates, rectangular plates, soup bowls and square serving bowls.
“A great way to brighten up you home for spring is with new rugs and Sonoma Home offers beautiful rugs by Dash and Albert Rug Company which are made in the USA,” said owner Andrea Raymond. “We stock many great patterns, such as Field of Flowers, Garden Trellis and Blue Awning which come in all sizes including small accent rugs, large eight-by-tens and hallway runners.”
Make up your bed for spring with fresh all-cotton bedding by Pine Cone Hill, also available at Sonoma Home. The Caroline collection offers soft pastel colors in coordinating floral patterns, subtle stripes and soothing solids. Prices are: king sheet set; queen sheet set; extra-long twin set; sham; and duvet covers. Complete the look with a beaded boudoir accent pillow in pink, blue, green or white.
Floral and fauna accessories from Kaboodle in Sonoma bring the outside indoors. A lush preserved boxwood centerpiece requires misting once a month to keep it looking fresh. It is available in an 18-inch trimmed globe with a twig base or a smaller topiary version in a resin pot. Replace those dusty fall or winter wreaths with one of the many displayed at the shop, such as wreaths of magnolia branches and flowers, olive branches and bunches of narcissus.
