This weekend’s “Food and Wine Pairing 101” at B.R. Cohn Winery will include a cooking demonstration led by award-winning chef Todd Muir, an alumnus of Chez Panisse with over 30 years experience in the wine country.
At the estate – called Olive Hill Vineyards – Muir will instruct guests in the basics of pairing wine with foods such as seafood, Asian-influenced dishes, desserts and more. After the demo, which starts at 11:30 a.m., guests will be served a three-course gourmet meal that will include the following dishes, paired with the wines listed:
Shrimp rémoulade with grilled hearts of romaine and Caesar dressing with 2007 Grieve Family Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc; grilled flank steak pin wheel with Asian marinade, and eggplant stir fry and pad Thai salad with 2005 Olive Hill Estate Cabernet Sauvignon; and hazelnut chocolate torte with zinfandel chocolate sauce, with 2005 Sonoma Valley Zinfandel.
The cost is $100. Reservations can be made by calling Sherri Vella Hewitt at 707.931.7923. B. R. Cohn is at 15000 Hwy. 12, Glen Ellen; www.brcohn.com.
