The Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County trophy is truly up for grabs, as both familiar and not-so-familiar faces tackle the road course.

Open-wheel race fans will greet a newly unified open-wheel racing series when the IndyCar® Series comes to Infineon Raceway for the Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County, Aug. 22-24.
The Indy Racing League and the Champ Car World Series announced their unification earlier this year, marking the end of a 13-year split in open-wheel racing.  The unification offers race fans an exciting chance to see all of the top teams and stars from the open-wheel world compete head-to-head on the challenging Infineon Raceway road course.
Several of the top teams and drivers from the Champ Car World Series have joined the unified series, which means IndyCar stars like Helio Castroneves, Danica Patrick and Marco Andretti will face an entirely new batch of competitors, including Graham Rahal, Justin Wilson and Will Power.
The IndyCar Series drivers will look to hone their performances on the 12-turn, 2.25-mile road course, while many of the Champ Car World Series drivers will visit the Sonoma Valley circuit for the first time.  The extensive road course racing experience of the Champ Car drivers could prove to be an equalizer, though, as Indy 500 winner Scott Dixon seeks to defend his 2007 event victory and Andretti Green Racing looks for vindication after a disappointing showing last year.
Several of the top teams, including Team Penske, Andretti Green and Vision Racing, are expected to visit Infineon Raceway for a two-day test session in advance of the event, Aug. 13-14.  Race fans are invited out to the track for free to watch as these drivers test the serpentine course.
The Indy Grand Prix of Sonoma County trophy is truly up for grabs, as both familiar and not-so-familiar faces tackle the road course.  It’s sure to be a show you won’t want to miss!  For more information and to purchase tickets, call 800-870-RACE or visit www.infineonraceway.com or www.ticketmaster.com.
