Beautiful people took on a beautiful cause at the sixth annual Fashion in the Vineyards show at Cline Cellars on Sept. 11. The sold-out fashion show featured an array of food, fashion and wine, inspiring “oohs” and “ahhs” from attendees, as professional and local models fitted by designer Helen Lyall took the runway. Proceeds from the event directly benefited the Boys & Girls Clubs of Sonoma Valley.

Crowds gathered to celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day in the Plaza Sunday Sept. 14 In Mexico, Sept. 16 marks the anniversary of the end of Spanish colonial domination, and in Sonoma, many still took joy in expressing their freedom with music, dancing and, of course, food. The celebration featured a talent show and local Ballet Folclorico Quetzalem, as well as a more formal ceremony and reenactment of the Mexican revolution. The event was sponsored by Vineyard Workers Services, Sonoma Valley Sun and El Sol de Sonoma, KSVY 91.3 Sonoma, El Verano School, Carniceria Chapala, Sonoma Party Supplies and Video Tepa.

The fourth annual Katmandu Fall Festival took over Depot Park the weekend of Sept. 13 and 14, in a whirlwind of true Nepalese style. The festival provided a cultural experience complete with music, dancing, healing arts and food. The line-up included dancers April Hirschman, Gobi Batra, Sukhawat Ali Khan, Demitri, Geoffrey Gordon, Baraka Moon and Raj Kumar. Proceeds from the event went to the Children’s Medical Aid Foundation, a group that provides medical operations for young children in Nepal.
