Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both women and men in the United States, and that is something everyone wants to change. In alignment with educational programs and healthy heart seminars throughout the nation, Sonoma Valley Hospital is offering two free lectures and two important cardiac-risk screenings at reduced rates. Sonoma Valley Hospital wants the women and men in the community to live long, heart-healthy lives and hopes everyone will take advantage of these informational offerings.
Cardiac Calcium Scoring: This helps determine one’s risk of coronary artery disease (CAD). If you or someone in your family has high cholesterol levels, a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure or is overweight, inactive or smokes cigarettes, you are at greater risk of CAD and this is a test you might want to consider. Normally the charge is $850, but for the month of February you can make an appointment by calling 707.935.5235 and paying the reduced rate of only $250.
Cardiac Risk Assessment: Offered on Thursdays throughout the month, this assessment includes blood pressure, weight, body mass index, a non-fasting cholesterol/glucose screening and a brief lifestyle evaluation. It will provide a picture of your cardiac well being or vulnerability. The charge is $25, and an appointment can be made by contacting Dr. Patricia Brooks at 707.935.5137.
Heart Health Care Today: An overview seminar with a question and answer discussion lead by esteemed SVH cardiologist James Price. This talk is open to all at no charge.
Friday, February 6 at 4 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria.
Healthy Heart Eating: An informational talk on the type of eating that promotes a healthy heart by SVH nutritionist Mary Hinse. This talk is open to all at no charge.
Friday, Feb. 20 at 3 p.m. in the hospital cafeteria.
