Cat’s Tuesday Music Spotlight

June is here and the weather is primed for Tuesday nights out on the town at Farmer’s Market. The last two months have had their moments, but this month should be the highlight of summer with 5 Tuesdays total and a stellar lineup of entertainment.

Julia Francis may have relocated for a view of the Bay, but she still keeps roots right here in Sonoma. This singer/songwriter finds much inspiration in our Valley of the Moon. Enjoy the stories she tells through song tonight, June 2, on the main lawn.

Brian Nova will be the first to perform in the return of Sonoma Valley Jazz Society’s free outdoor concert series. These shows will take place every 2nd Tuesday of the month through September in the Grinstead Amphitheatre. If you haven’t seen Nova perform yet, this is a perfect opportunity. Not only is he a world class musician, but his connection with the audience is unmatchable. He’s hip, he’s cool, and he’s here just to entertain you on Tuesday, June 9.

The 16th of June brings the popular Jon Popenoe Blues Band to play under the giant palm. Groove to the sounds of Jon on guitar and vocals, Tom Wolfe on bass, and Jim Holland on drums. Formed in 2008, they have a classic sound that will get your hips movin’. Don’t forget to check out Jon Popenoe and friends at the Sonoma Marketplace Gazebo Friday nights from 5-6:30 p.m. for “Jazz in the Gazebo.”

Always energetic, The Rich Little Band is performing at the Farmer’s Market on Tuesday, June 23. If you’re looking to dance, this is the night to hit the plaza. Rock ‘n roll covers and originals are what Rich Little delivers and you won’t be disappointed.

As promised, there is a 5th Tuesday this month which means an extra night of entertainment. The David Thom Band delivers the final performance in June on the 30th. This is toe-tapping bluegrass with strings galore. All Farmer’s Market events start at 5:30 p.m. and of course there is never a cover. If you have little ones with dancing feet, this is the perfect outlet to expose them to so many types of music as well as let them burn off some energy while you relax and dine on the market’s offerings.

Come and sing a song, get your friends on stage for a sing-along, or realize Sonoma’s undiscovered talents as they take the stage. Karaoke is at Steiners every 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month.
