Fred “Kenneth” Swolley

Fred “Kenneth” Swolley, was born on September 5, 1956 to Clara and Fred Swolley. He was well known in Sonoma and Novato for his outgoing, optimistic personality, extreme wit and great sense of humor. Kenny grew up in Novato and loved to play baseball and was an all-star team player in high school. Summers were spent on his motorcycle riding along the windy roads of Marin County with reckless abandon along with his friends. Kenny had a love of horses, fast cars, antiques and enjoyed repairing electronics. He was a stereo specialist and more recently was named top salesman and won many trips that took him to places like Hawaii and Thailand to mention a few. He installed sound systems for well-known musicians including The Jefferson Airplane, Buddy Miles and The Doobie Brothers.
Kenny was preceded in death by his father, Fred, in 2000. He is survived by his loving mother, Claire Swolley, and his brother, John Swolley, both of Yuba City, Calif.; by his sister, Kathy Fleming, of Sonoma; by his cousins Denise, Tressa and Zachary Hurlburt of Napa, Darrell Quinn of Sonoma, David Quinn of Anderson, Calif., Danny Quinn of Vista, Calif. and by his niece, Katie Allred of Santa Rosa, CA.
Kenny’s life was cut short when he died tragically, on Saturday, May 9, 2009 in Sonoma. He will be deeply missed by his loving family and friends.
Friends attended a memorial service on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Duggan’s Mission Chapel. Private Inurnment.

Arlene Lucille Peterson, 86, passed away peacefully at home in Sonoma after a courageous battle with cancer. She received excellent care from Hospice in her final days, for which the family will always be grateful. She was the third child and only daughter of Frank and Ona Morris, born in Eskridge, Kan. She moved to California during the WWII years and was employed as a retail grocery clerk at Safeway in Mill Valley and later at Valley Mart in Sonoma.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Emil A. Peterson in 1983.
Arlene is loved and respected by four surviving children: Mary Ellen (Sonny) Cissna, of Concord, Julianne (Claude) Bennett, of Sonoma, Eugene (Colette) Peterson, of Sonoma and Linda Susan (Steve) Cook, of Olympia, Wash. In addition to her children, she is survived by 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; her dear brother-in-law, Walter J. Cotter, of Redwood City; her niece, Peggy Cotter, of Sunnyvale; and her nephew, Patrick Cotter, of Burlingame; and many dear, special friends of 60 plus years.
Friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 West Napa Street in Sonoma. A private graveside service will be held at Mountain Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Arlene’s honor may be made to: the American Cancer Society, (Sonoma Unit) 2930 McBride Lane, Santa Rosa, Calif. 95403; Hospice by the Bay, 190 West Napa Street, Sonoma, Calif. 95476; or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Kay Mantynen

Kay Mantynen, 60, of Sonoma, died June 2, 2009. Kay was born January 26, 1949 in Medford, Ore. and moved to Sonoma in 1959. As a longtime resident of Sonoma, Kay made many lifetime friendships and enriched many lives. Kay was loved by many for her selfless and giving attitude and great sense of humor.
Kay is survived by her daughter Stephanie Johnson and son Ron Bresee, son-in-law Dave Johnson and daughter-in-law Lindsey Bresee. She was the loving grandmother of Zachary and Everet Johnson and Riley and William Bresee. She is also survived by her sister Christie Cochran, nephews Jim Garcia, Chris Garcia, Alex Cochran and numerous great nieces and nephews, of Katy, Texas. She is preceded in death by her mother Frances Rusteika and her father Stephen Rusteika.
Kay was loved by many; her memory will live on in the lives of her children and friends, who loved her so very much.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life for Kay at 2 p.m. on June 13 at St. Andrew Presbyterian Church, 16920 Arnold Drive, Sonoma.
