Shirley Fagen Rossman, 88, passed away peacefully in the loving company of her family in Napa on June 24, 2009. She was a native of Chicago, Illinois born June 16, 1921, and was a Registered Nurse who served our country as an Army Nurse during World War II. Shirley received her nursing degree from the University of Chicago. She was a loving and dedicated person who touched the hearts of most everyone she met. She had a sparkle of energy in her blue eyes that was uniquely her own. She will be missed and loved always and forever.
Loving wife for over 58 years to Morton J. Rossman, loving mother of Jonathan and David Rossman, daughter-in-law Dominica Rossman, beloved grandmother of Skye and Elijah Rossman, sisters Lillian Weil and Judy Klingman, brothers-in-law Sam Schulman, Howie Weil; nieces, Liane Makiva, Risa Aratyr, Ellen Lemberger, Linda Foley and nephew Ken Salomon. She is also survived by several other nephews and nieces.
Friends and family are invited to attend a memorial gathering for Shirley, and other recently deceased veterans, at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2009 at the Veterans Home of California at Yountville, 120 California Dr., Yountville, Calif. Private interment will take place at a later date at the Sonoma Veteran’s Memorial Park in Sonoma. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Shirley’s honor may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements under the direction of Duggan’s Mission Chapel.
