Richard Allen Brown, 56, passed away on June 26 in Fort Smith, Ark. A California native and former resident of Sonoma, Brown resided most recently in Cameron, Okla. The former truck driver is survived by his mother Rose Marie Grigg of California, wife Ronnie Brown of California, daughter Brandi, brothers Dennis Deattrick of Ione, Calif. and Mike Tankersly of Pocola, Okla., and dear friend and companion Kathy Heath, as well as other relatives and loved ones and a host of beloved friends. Brown was preceded in death by his father, Donald A. Brown. Memorial contributions may be made to Gary Don Slavens of Pocola, Okla.

Cleary, Reverend Edward Michael, Jr., 88, died July 7, 2009, in Greenbrae, Calif.
Born December 14, 1920, Fr. Cleary was a graduate of Sonoma Valley High School, a U.S. Navy Veteran WWII, attended St. Patrick’s Seminary in Menlo Park and was ordained to the priesthood in San Francisco on June 16, 1956, at St. Mary’s Cathedral. He served at St. John the Baptist in Napa, St. Martin of Tours in San Jose, St. Finn Barr and St. Bridget’s in San Francisco, St. Matthew in San Mateo and St. Raphael in San Rafael. He was pastor of Holy Angels in Colma from 1976 to 1990 and St. James in San Francisco from 1990 to 1995. After retiring, Fr. Cleary continued to serve at Our Lady of Mercy in Daly City and St. Veronica’s in South San Francisco. He then resided at Nazareth House in San Rafael. Fr. Cleary said mass on Thursdays at St. Francis in Sonoma. He was active with many pro-life groups and he was a member of YMI and ICF at Holy Angels. He was an avid golfer.
Fr. Cleary was the dearly beloved son of the late Edward Sr. and Annie Cleary; beloved brother of the late John Cleary; and loving cousin of Maureen Lenihan and Katie Burke.
Family, clergy and friends may call at Duggan’s Funeral Service at 3434 17th Street, near Valencia, San Francisco on Monday, July 13, from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. A Vigil Service will be offered at 7 p.m.
On Tuesday, July 14, there will be a visitation at Duggan’s Mission Chapel, 525 W. Napa Street, Sonoma, from noon until 5 p.m. A Vigil Service will be offered at St. Francis Solano Church, West Napa and Third Street West, Sonoma, at 7 p.m.
The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 15, at St. Francis Solano Church. Interment to follow at St. Francis Cemetery, Sonoma.
