Hospital rolls out new Web site, advisory panel

The Sonoma Valley Hospital has launched two initiatives to better communicate with the public, a revamped Web site and an advisory committee.

The Web site, svh.com, promises information for patients on everything from how to find a doctor to the protocol to follow prior to a medical procedure. It will also be a source for H1N1 updates.

“We hope we’ve created a better tool for communicating with the community,” said Bob Rice, director of community relations

The site also features information for visitors, regular messages from CEO Carl Gerlach and hospital news, such as facility designs, financials and more.

Hospital officials hope to further develop public interaction with the formation of the Sonoma Valley Health Care District Advisory Council.

The goal of the council’s monthly meetings is to provide a venue where health-care providers and the members of the public can discuss health issues in Sonoma Valley.

Initial members of the council are: Internist Dr. Clinton Lane; Dr. Brian Sebastian, a family practice physician; urologist Dr. J. Nevin Smith; and Patricia Talbot, CEO of the Sonoma Valley Community Health Center.

The council is looking to add at least three members of the community. Anyone interested in the position should contact Sonoma Valley Hospital Board Secretary Peter Hohorst at 707.938.4646 or phohors@alum.mit.edu.
