Burglary of empty home compounds Maloney tragedy

A neighborhood wracked with grief and a home emptied by tragedy were subjected to another indignity Tuesday, as burglars broke into and ransacked the Maloney residence before making a getaway in the family’s car.

The 2006 Nissan 350z was parked in the driveway. It was stolen along with other valuables as thieves ransacked every room of the Fryer Creek Drive home.

Entry was made sometime between midnight and 7 a.m., when a neighbor noticed signs of a break-in. Thieves had forced their way into the garage from a side door, then broke through another door into the house.

Detectives from the Sonoma County Sheriff’s Department Property Crimes unit, and the Crime Scene Investigations Unit, were busy Tuesday processing the scene for evidence and interviewing neighbors.

The stolen vehicle is described as silver, 2006 Nissan 350z with a California license plate 5XOH067.  Anyone with information regarding the location of the vehicle is asked to call the Sonoma Police Department at 707-996-3601.
