Traffic Alert

Sonoma Valley and surrounding commuters are alerted to the following road construction for the week of January 17, 2010:

In Sonoma Valley:

Starting Tuesday, January 19 on Stage Gulch Road: Caltrans will begin a highway improvement project on State Route 116, also known as Stage Gulch Road. The project, southeast of Petaluma and located between Adobe Road and Arnold Drive, will provide new shoulders, horizontal and vertical curve reduction, a new alignment west of county transfer road, upgraded metal beam guard rail and new retaining walls. Construction will begin with tree removal to allow the new highway and shoulders to be constructed.

State Route 116 will remain open during construction. Motorists can expect night time lane closures with one way traffic control from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. during the week with longer work windows on the weekends. Anticipated completion of this highway improvement project is spring of 2012.

Caltrans requests that motorists drive courteously and cautiously through the
construction zone.

In Sonoma County:

• On Highway 101, from Steele Lane to Windsor River Road two lanes in each direction will be closed from Monday night/Wednesday morning through Tuesday night/Wednesday morning, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. and on various other locations between Steele Lane and Windsor River Road

• On Highway 116 at various locations between Guerneville and Highway 1, expect one-way traffic control from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

In Marin County:

• On Highway 101 near the Novato Creek Bridge expect various lane closures, Monday through Friday 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. traveling southbound and at 6 a.m. in the northbound direction.

• On Highway 101 the northbound Rowland Boulevard on-ramp will be closed, Monday through Friday, 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.

• Motorists are advised to detour to the southbound Rowland Boulevard on-ramp, proceed to the Route 37 interchange, then north onto Highway 101

• The northbound Rowland Boulevard off-Ramp will be closed Monday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
