Remembering Chris Reed

An over flow crowd packed the Sonoma Veterans Memorial Building on Saturday to pay tribute to Chris Reed, who passed away on December 13. Reed was perhaps best known as the affable checker at Sonoma Market.

From family and friends to co-workers, customers and neighbors, it seems that Reed touched many, many lives throughout the Valley. Ken Brown acted as Master of Ceremonies at the midday memorial service inviting audience members to share their stories of Reed once Reed’s daughter, Tiffany Carranza, spoke a tearful goodbye to her father. Plenty of people came forward with heartfelt stories and even a Raiders chant. But regardless of the relation to Reed, through each remembrance ran the same thread – Reed’s desire to make a connection with those around him. Based on the outpouring of affection, it seems he made his mark.
