Children from Crescent Montessori School help plant a Coast Redwood in Sonoma Plaza as part of Thurday’s Arbor Day Celebration. The tree, which could someday top 300 feet, will be the new holiday tree for Hospice by the Bay’s annual tree lighting. After greetings and poetry readings, Renee Serota gathered her students to dedicate the tree with a song – the folk tune “This Land is Your Land,” with a special verse:
“…And in Sonoma a Coast Redwood, was beautifully planted, by caring people
this tree will grow tall for generations; this land was made for you and me.”
