Woman of the Year

Sonoma vintner and wine grower Ramona Nicholson, named Woman of the Year for the 6th Assembly District, joined Assemblymember Jared Huffman on the state capital’s Assembly floor on Monday. Nicholson and her husband and three children attended the annual ceremony, where she was recognized by Huffman as an exemplary California woman.

All 80 assemblymembers and their honorees participated in the program, which included a Legislative Women’s Caucus reception hosted by Secretary of State Debra Bowen. Born and raised on Nicholson Ranch in Sonoma County, Ramona Nicholson is now responsible for all aspects of their family-owned and operated vineyard and winery. Huffman said she is held in high regard in the wine industry for her knowledge and expertise in all aspects of wine production, and her volunteer work with the Sonoma Valley Vintners and Growers Alliance.
