Saturday night’s MIX event — a blend of art, food, music and impromptu dance — at the Sonoma Valley Museum of Art “was the biggest we’ve seen,” said Executive Director Kate Eilertsen.
More than 325 people packed the party, which included a interactive artwork, now on display in the museum window at 551 Broadway.
As tickets were in effect discounted memberships, the record attendance “increased museum membership significantly,” Eilertsen said. “But the big thrill is getting new people into the museum.”
The venue now begins prepping for the incoming exhibition, A.R.T.S.: Art Rewards the Student. The annual show consists of artwork created in the museum’s art education program for fourth and fifth graders. This year’s theme, curated by Robyn Muscardini and installed by high school students, explores science and art. The exhibition opens with a member’s preview on Friday evening, March 26, and then to the public on March 27.
