Dr. Rhonda Stallings is used to anniversaries and birthdays. With a menagerie of dogs, cats and children at home, it seems that there is always something to celebrate. This time, it’s her turn.
The owner and lead veterinarian at Arroyo Veterinary Hospital is celebrating five years as the host of Sonoma Pet Talk, a radio show on Sun FM 91.3. Along with her trusty co-host, Peanut – an almost 10-year-old Chihuahua – Stallings plies the airwaves from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday. She brings news and information to listeners who never seem to tire of her wealth of knowledge.
“I approached the station all those years ago because I realized that there wasn’t anything pertaining to animals. They jumped at the chance and here I am, five years later,” said Stallings. “I really look at it as a public service. I try to not mention my own business but rather, give people options for what’s available in terms of veterinary care for animals.”
Guests to the show have included veterinary specialists, authors and animals trainers. Stallings also reaches out to nonprofits in the area like Sonoma County Wildlife Rescue, Fawn Rescue and Pets Lifeline. “I like to invite guests who celebrate pets and animals in their lives. Since not all animals are pets I open it up to lots of different people who help me educate the public on many different topics.”
Tune in to listen to Stallings and Peanut each Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Sun FM, 91.3. Here’s to another five years.
