Kate Kennedy’s Avalon Players revives the faux restoration farce “La Bête,” named Best New Comedy in 1992 on London’s West End, in a run at Andrews Hall at the Sonoma Community Center. The Moliere pastiche follows the antics of a stately acting troupe in 17th century France forced to take on a flamboyant street performer. As they would if a rapper joined the San Francisco Opera, frolics ensue. The show runs through August 29 with evening performances Thursday through Saturday (August 19-21 and 26-28) at 7 p.m. with Sunday matinees (August 22, and 29) at 3 p.m. sonomashakespeare.com
