Today is Veteran’s day. At the eleventh hour on the eleventh day in the eleventh month the community is invited to honor our country’s veterans with a moving ceremony here in Sonoma. Join Mayor Steve Barbose and members of the local veteran’s associations – American Legion Post 489 and VFW Post 1947 – at Sonoma Veterans Memorial Hall, 126 First Street West, for a ceremony and emotional tribute to our country’s vets. Joining the assemblage will be vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan as well as veteran and councilmember Ken Brown.
Following the hour-long ceremony everyone is invited to the Vintage House Senior Center for a USO-style celebration. World War II costumes are encouraged. Homemade chili and hot dogs will be served and the music of the 40’s will provide a toe-tapping backdrop to the festivities. The event is free and open to the public.
