The classic Christmas tale and theater production “Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus” will be presented as a live 1940’s style radio show by J Love Productions and The Nicholson Ranch Players.

The production runs Dec. 3 through 5 at the Vintner’s Room at Nicholson Ranch.

Written by James Hanady, the play is an adaptation of the famous letter written by 8-year-old Virginia Hanlon to the New York Sun, asking the perennial question “Is there a Santa Claus”? The response, written by war correspondent Frank Church, became instantly famous when it appeared in the Sun in 1897.

“It’s amazing that a letter written over a hundred years ago is just as topical today,” said Producer Jaime Love.

Singers Jill Waggoner and Nancy Vandegrift play the musical guests in this play directed by Butch Engle. Earl Blue will be the “radio station” pianist, providing a musical backdrop to the story. Virginia O’Hanlon is played by Kamryn Conway, alongside a cast including Carson Campbell, Kathryn Del Chiaro, Jaime and Veronica Love, Maeve and John O’Reilly, Chris Wall and Joanne Snyder.

“I promise an evening full of hope and nostalgia,” Love said, “a great introduction to the holiday season.”

Tickets are $12-$16 and are available at Tiddle E Winks, the Nicholson Ranch tasting room or at 996.9207. Tickets will also be available at the door, 4200 Napa Rd. at 121, in Sonoma.
