SVHS football program receives $10K grant

Posted on January 19, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Sonoma Valley High School football program got an unexpected but nonetheless welcome windfall this week when they received a grant from the NFL, courtesy of Baltimore Ravens’ player and SVHS alumnus, Tony Moll.

Moll’s contribution of $5,000 to the football program was matched by the NFL for a grand total of $10,000. The grant, part of the NFL’s Youth Football Fund, stipulates that the money must be used for football equipment, field items, or locker or weight room renovations – anything that will help expand the football program specifically. The money must be used by July 5, 2011.

Moll is a 2001 graduate of SVHS. He played college football for the University of Nevada. He was drafted by the Green Bay packers in 2006 and played for that team until 2008. Following the 2008 season, he was traded to the Ravens, for whom he still plays.
