School district reinstates April furlough day

Posted on January 25, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The Sonoma Valley Unified School District has reinstated the April 25, 2011 furlough day taken due to state budget cuts to education. The furlough day was to be taken by each district employee, resulting in one less day of instruction for SVUSD students.

The instructional day was reinstated because the school district is a recipient of the one-time Federal Ed Jobs funds, as authorized in the “Education Jobs and Medicaid Assistance Act of 2010,” making sufficient funding available to undo the 2010-2011 furlough day.
