High eco grades for Huffman

Assemblymember Jared Huffman has achieved the highest rankings on the vote scorecards from three influential environmental organizations in California.

The California League of Conservation Voters (CLCV), Sierra Club California, and Clean Water Action have released annual scorecards which rank how members of the California State Legislature performed on the most important environmental votes of the 2010 legislative session.

“I am very proud of my environmental record,” Huffman said. “I applaud the effort of these organizations to hold legislators accountable on votes to protect California’s natural resources.”

Huffman chairs the Assembly Water, Parks and Wildlife Committee, and is co-chair of the Legislative Environmental Caucus. He said he will continue to author and support legislation that improves water quality, protects state parks, and block demands for rollbacks of environmental laws that protect California’s natural heritage and the public’s health.

“The story of our 2010 Scorecard how the environmental community stopped multiple attacks on the environment, and how we passed strong laws that protect our quality of life,” said Warner Chabot, CLCV Chief Executive Officer. “The good news is that, with the help of champions like Assemblymember Jared Huffman, the environmental community successfully defeated the bills that posed the most serious threats to the environment and public health.”

Miriam Gordon, director of the CLCV, said Huffman showed true leadership on environmental issues during the legislative session, “including ensuring safe drinking water for all communities, removing toxic chemicals from our environment, and using our water resources more wisely.”

Huffman (D-San Rafael) represents the 6th Assembly District, which encompasses southern Sonoma County, including Sonoma Valley, and all of Marin County.
