The cat ate my homework

The famous Cat in the Hat character visited Dunbar School in Glen Ellen on March 18, performing a musical routine for an auditorium full of youngsters wearing his signature striped headgear. The activities were part of the school’s “Read Across the World with The Cat in the Hat” program. Time spent reading had been translated into miles traveled for the Cat, who zigged and zagged some 62,000 imaginary miles around the globe. He had emailed the school of his adventures, said Principal Melanie Blake, adding elements of geography, culture and math to create “a very integrated curriculum project.” The whiskered one thanked the children for sending him such wonderful travels. “The purpose is to get books into the hands of all the kids, and make reading lots of fun,” Blake said. “We’re delighted with the response.”
