Close to 70 percent of the Prestwood student body got in on the action recently as they walked and rolled to school. This is the second year in a row that the school has participated in International Walk to School Day where students are encouraged to use foot or pedal power to get to school. Parents, teachers and the community joined in the fun as well. Pictured here, first grader Jacqueline Yanez poses with Principal Beth Wolk after winning this year’s grand prize, a brand new Trek bicycle, donated by the Trek Bicycle store in Santa Rosa and the Sonoma Bicycle Coalition. The Walk to School event is part of the Safe Routes to School movement to promote the importance of fitness and activity around the world, and in our local communities.
