Booked to reopen

Posted on September 1, 2011 by Sonoma Valley Sun

The temporary home of the Sonoma Valley Library nears completion in Burlingame Hall on West Spain Street. The facility is scheduled to open on Friday, September 9, after several weeks of converting the event space of The First Congregational Church. The new space is about one-third the size of the vacated branch at 755 W. Napa St., which is closed until next summer for a major overhaul.  “We won’t be able to do everything, but we will do the most important things,” said Mary Evelyn Arnold, Sonoma Valley library commissioner. In addition to smaller space, the library will be open fewer hours. As part of a budget cut affecting all county branches, the Sonoma library will be closed Sunday and Monday, and Saturday hours have been reduced to a schedule of 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
