Those two young-looking kids ordering alcohol Wednesday night? Not only were they minors, they were working for the cops.
In a decoy operation conducted by the Sonoma Police Department and California Alcohol Beverage Control, the undercover tandem entered restaurants and bars in the Sonoma area. Out of the ten establishments visited, three served the minors the alcoholic beverage.
Cited were servers from the Sonoma Cheese Factory, Steiner’s Tavern and Rin’s Thai Restaurant. According to a police statement, the employees were cited criminally for furnishing alcohol to a minor and the licensee will face an administrative review through the ABC.
Another element of the sting was A shoulder tap operation was also conducted at various grocery and convenience stores in the Sonoma area on October 26, 2011. In this operation minors asked customers to purchase alcohol for them. Two subjects agreed and purchased alcohol for the minors, and both received a criminal citation.
