Veterans Day 2012

With Veterans Day 2011 in the books, the planning begins for the 2012 ceremony to include a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall.

The traveling wall is 80 percent the size of the original monument in Washington D.C. Part of the planned Cost of Freedom Tribute, the 370-foot wall lists the names of those killed in action during the Vietnam War.

Additionally, there are tributes to WW2, the Korean War, 911, Iraq and Afghanistan, firefighters, police officers and other service personnel. The tribute will be on the grounds of the Veterans Building Nov. 7 to 11, 2012.

Bear Flag Post 1943 Veterans of Foreign Wars has undertaken the project, and seeks donations to raise the $20k it will take to put on the event. Contact 938-3543 or vfwpost1943.org for more information.
