Extreme behavior

Organisms that thrive in extreme environments, like this worm that lives within mounds of methane ice on the sea floor, are the subject of “Extremophiles – Life on the Edge” on Saturday, April 14, at the Bouverie Preserve.

Experts will discuss the living things for which there is no such condition as too hot, too cold, too deep, too high, too dry or too toxic. The study of these alien-looking creatures inform scientists as to the origins of life of Earth, and the search for life elsewhere in the universe. 2:30 p.m. $20-$25. 13935 Sonoma Hwy. Glen Ellen. 415.868.9244. Egret.org.
