With a new menu and new venue, the Sonoma Valley High School Booster Club’s annual Booster Bash is firmly set for Saturday, May 5, at Hanna Boys Center. Cocktails and appetizers, a barbeque tri-tip dinner and dancing to the band Tudo Bem are all part of the evening from 5:30 to 11 p.m.
The event had been originally planed for mid March. Hanna was unable to secure a use permit for its new event space, forcing the postponement, according to Booster Club President Wendy Swanson.
With the move to the new location, and switching from a crab feed to a barbecue, organizers were actually able to lower the ticket price this year, to $65. Tickets are available at SVHSBoosters.com or 938.5481.
“This is our major fundraiser of the year,” said Booster Club President Wendy Swanson. “In recent years, club has raised over $160,000 a year to support not only all the sports teams, but other activities such as drama, music, newspaper, forensics, dance, yearbook, video production and all campus clubs and organizations.”
With a decline in direct donations, Swanson said the club is more dependent than ever on fundraisers like the Booster Bash, “to allow us to keep contributing to and, in many cases, sustaining important extracurricular activities.”
