Hide, seek, sing

Mentors and mentees from the Stand By Me Mentoring Program were treated to a spectacular scavenger hunt hosted by the Transcendence Theatre Company’s Executive Director Stephan Stubbins. Stubbins and company are responsible for the ‘Broadway Under the Stars’ series of performances that have come to Jack London State Park this summer.

Stubbins, along with several actors from the troop, organized a great adventure that took place in the park with mentors and mentees exploring the museum and park grounds in search of historical information, which incorporated some acting and singing along the way.

According to Tina Baldry, program director for the mentoring program, it was an energetic two hours of hunting and seeking before the group finished their tasks and gathered back at ‘The House Of Happy Walls’ to watch a video of the day’s activities.

All participating mentors and mentees were given tickets to “Fantastical Family Night” which featured music from “Little Mermaid,” “Peter Pan,” “Annie,” and more. Mentee’s Jason and Juan attended the Fantastical Family Night and said, “We had a blast.  The comedians were so funny!”  The winning team won VIP tickets to the performance of their choice.

“What a great opportunity to visit Jack London State Park and connect with the performers from ‘Broadway Under The Stars’,” said Baldry.  The day ended with a picnic in the park.
