School board news

Following the resignation of Camerino Hawing form the Sonoma Valley School District Board of Trustees, the has issued an invitation for applicants wishing to fil the position on the board.

The vacancy is for the El Verano attendance area. Qualified applicants must reside within the defined attendance area for El Verano Elementary School and be registered voters. Persons who meet eligibility criteria and are interested in receiving an application to serve as a Board Member should contact Superintendent Louann Carlomagno at the district office, 17850 Railroad Avenue in Sonoma or call 935.4246.

An informational meeting for prospective candidates will be held at the District Office on Thursday, August 23 at 5 p.m.  The deadline for all materials to be submitted is August 30 at 5 p.m.

Qualified applicants will be invited to interview with the Board of Trustees in open session at the September 11 regular board meeting, which will be held in the Community Meeting Room, 177 First Street West, Sonoma, at 7 p.m.

In other School board news, trustee Nicole Ducarroz will be returning for another four-year stint on the board.  Ducarroz’s term expires in December and she was re-elected unopposed for another four-year term starting with the December 2012 board meeting.  Trustees Helen Marsh and Gary DeSmet also stepped up for another four year.
