Cristin Lawrence, executive director of Sonoma Valley Teen Services, shows off some of the 16 bicycles to be raffled off at the Valley of the Moon Teen Center open house on Friday, November 9. From 5 to 7 p.m., staff and volunteers will show visitors the facility, with its commercial kitchen, computer room, gym, basketball court and meeting rooms. Lawrence and teens will briefly talk about the various programs offered by SVTS, including: “Skills for Life” work preparedness seminars; the Lovin’ Oven baking program; Ragazzi “pop up” restaurant; the No Name Café barista training; art activities; and The Shop musical productions. Another program is bicycle repair, taught by Adrian Palenchar, a 2000 Sonoma Valley High School graduate who manages the center’s bicycle basement shop that refurbished the 16 bikes for the raffle. Childcare is available, and food and beverages will be served. The event is free but please 939-1452. Find out more at Svteens.org.
