What might have been?

A wine country music festival, with three days of big name acts in a multi-stage, pavilion style atmosphere featuring local wine and food? Alas, it’s not the return of Sonoma Jazz Plus, the event that folded its tent two years ago. The event getting all the buzz is instead BottleRock, coming to the Napa Valley Expo (fairgrounds) May 9-12. The genre-mashing lineup includes Kings of Leon, The Black Keys, The Shins, Jane’s Addiction, Flaming Lips, Cake, Primus, Alabama Shakes, The Black Crowes, Train, Joan Jett and many more. Single day passes are $139, so it’s not a super-low price that has ticket sales jamming faster than Phil Lesh and Bob Weir (who will also appear). Might a more contemporary musical lineup saved the Sonoma event?
