A closer look at sustainable agriculture

What exactly is “sustainable agriculture?” One definition is producing food today in ways that protect our ability to produce food tomorrow, thereby providing for a more secure future for the planet.

Discussing the concept will be UC Davis Professors James F. Quinn and Patrick Huber, guest speakers at the Sonoma Valley Historical Society’s monthly meeting Friday November 14, at the Sonoma Community Center. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The speakers will discuss school’s various ongoing programs that address the scientific elements of sustainability in California and throughout the world. The lecture will be of interest to sustainable/organic farmers, environmentalists, educators and anyone else interested in innovative programs aimed at changing the way we look at producing food.

The community center is located at 276 E. Napa St. For more information, contact 938.1762.
