Scholarships for future farmers

Sonoma Valley High School seniors Hannah Herrick and Gabrielle Reed are the recipients of HWY 12 Properties FFA Scholarships

Gabrielle, who will be attending Washington State University in the fall, was awarded $2,000, and Hannah, who will be off to Montana State, will receive $1,000.

All scholarship finalists were evaluated on their participation in an all-day field trip to the sustainable farms and affiliated businesses of the HWY 12 Properties scholarship advisory board: Sondra Bernstein (the girl & the fig), Andrew Mariani (SCRIBE Winery), Andrea Davis- Cetina (Quarter Acre Farm), Rich Andreotti (Circle JR Ranch) and Sam Mogannam (Bi-Rite Family Businesses).

After a lively board meeting reviewing the reflective papers submitted by the finalists, the winners were selected. H12P co-owners/realtors Sue Simon and Cece Hugo will present the scholarships to Gabrielle and Hannah at the Sonoma Valley High School Awards Assembly on May 18.
