Petaluma based Marin French Cheese celebrates their 150th anniversary this year. Founded in 1865, the cheese company has been producing super tasty award-winning soft-ripened cheeses on site at their Hicks Valley Ranch since inception.
Their delicious brie and camembert cheeses use fresh milk from local dairy farms. One of my favorites is their decadent triple creme brie with truffles. It is made with Urbani Italian Black Truffles and is super tasty with a glass of Gloria Ferrer’s Royal Cuvee (and oh so classy, might I add).
To celebrate, they’re asking the community to send in memories of Marin French Cheese, albeit visiting the cheese factory or simply enjoying their cheeses with friends and family. They’ll be sharing their stories via social media, and through a exhibit and storytelling performances that will launch at the ranch on June 14. Send your stories, photos, and thoughts, no matter how cheesy, to stories@marinfrenchcheese.com; call Lynne at 925-872-6691; or snail mail them with your memories at Stories at Marin French, 7500 Red Hill Rd., Petaluma, CA 94952.
On June 14, Marin French Cheese is hosting a free celebration from 11AM-4PM. The event, which will take place outdoors on the ranch grounds, will feature storytelling, performances by the Dixie Giants, beekeeping and honey samples from Bonnie Bee Company, cheesemaking demos, and tons of food for purchase and to picnic with from the Marin French Cheese and the California Cheese Guild. Oh, and local wine, beer, and cider makers, too! Bring your picnic blanket and prepare to make some new memories – it will be a fun day to celebrate Sonoma County’s cheesemaking history. marinfrenchcheese.com
