Could Dunkin’ Donuts be coming to Sonoma?

Yesterday was an important day for Bay Area donut fanatics: Dunkin’ Donuts has announced that they will open a bunch of stores in Northern California.

Two different franchise companies will open up the famous donut chain in the area, Shiva Developments and California Donut Kings LLC. Shops will start opening in 2017.

According to the San Francisco Business Times, “the restaurants will land in Vallejo, Benicia, San Rafael, Novato, and throughout the Napa, Sonoma and Santa Rosa areas.”

Shiva Developments is responsible for North Bay expansion. We contacted Shiva Developments and they declined that any set locations have been secured in Sonoma, however, they did not deny that they were investigating options in Sonoma Valley.

The shops are generally 2,000 to 2,500 square feet in size. Some of them are co-branded with Baskin Robbins, of which we already have in Sonoma.

When a Dunkin’ Donuts arrives in an area, it brings between 20 and 40 full- and part-time jobs with it.

If Dunkin’ does intend to move into Sonoma, will this be the next Staples drama?
