State Assemblyman Bill Dodd, elected in November to represent the Springs as part of the 4th District, has announced his candidacy for the State Senate in District 3. That seat is currently held by Lois Wolk, who is being termed out.

Dodd is a Democrat from Napa County. After a successful 25-year business career, Dodd served four terms on the Napa County Board of Supervisors before running for the Assembly.

Dodd said that Wolk, Representative Mike Thompson, and over 200 local leaders support his election.

“I’m running for everyone who is concerned about the California that we are passing on to future generations, and for young people confronting a future with greater uncertainty,“ said Dodd.

Dodd said he would push for policies that “renew the promise of the American Dream and expand the Middle Class –- access to high quality K-12 and college educations, support for small business creation and expansion, and improved roads and highways that help the economy grow rather than drag it down.”

Dodd will appear at a community meeting on Friday, July 31, 2 p.m. at the Sonoma Valley Grange. Attendees will be invited to tell Assemblyman Dodd something they would like him to know about the Springs, said organizer Gina Cuclis, a Springs resident and Sonoma County Board of Education trustee. “The point is to inform our legislator and hear from one another.”

After the meeting Dodd will visit Nuestra Voz, the Mid Penn affordable housing project, Teen Services Sonoma, La Luz Center, and the location for a proposed town plaza.
