Last week, Sonoma Raceway dropped off more than 4,600 pounds of non-perishable food at Redwood Empire Food Bank and Sonoma’s own FISH (Friends In Sonoma Helping).
The donation will provide approximately 2,800 meals to county residents.
In addition to the amazing amount of food donated, Sonoma Raceway collected $1,285 in cash donations for FISH.
“This donation is easily half of the food we give out in our Christmas baskets, which will go to 500 families this year,” said longtime FISH volunteer, Louise Biefelt. “They buy some eggs and some produce and I think they’re giving gift cards this year, but this helps tremendously.”
In over 15 years, Sonoma Raceway has donated over 66,309 pounds of food to our community.
Food was donated locally at the Raceway, Angelo’s Wine Country Deli, Carneros Deli, our local 76 gas stations, Sonoma Market and Glen Ellen Market.
