The Fruit Basket (996-7433 | 18474 Hwy 12, Sonoma) is an icon of the Springs.

Fresh produce is brought in daily from around California.

And it isn’t just about the produce – at the Fruit Basket you will find the best selection of dried pasta, pasta sauce, olive oil, olives, and gourmet delights (i.e. giant glass containers of artichoke hearts in water).

The Fruit Basket is the type of place I like to visit as much as possible – you’ll never know what you find. They carry an ever growing selection of organic and local produce. (A little birdie even told me sometimes they get excess produce from Oak Hill Farm.) They also have the best prices on and largest selection of avocados and limes.

They sell fresh Basque Boulangerie bread, more citrus you can shake a stick at, Latin speciality produce, and fresh organic milk and cheeses.

For caterers and party throwers, talk to the staff about ordering feta cheese and olives in bulk – the prices beat the other stores in town.

It’s basically a one stop shop for all your veggie needs.

If you aren’t shopping at the Fruit Basket you are missing out on one the most affordable, delightful, and color shopping experiences in Sonoma Valley. Don’t forget their sister market in Carneros, too (938-4332 |  24101 Arnold Dr., Sonoma).
