Housing in Sonoma Valley is the focus of a March 16 meeting of Sonoma Valley Connect, an ongoing public forum convened by Supervisor Susan Gorin. The 6 p.m. meeting, the first in a bi-monthly series of meetings on different topics of community concern, will be held at Altimira Middle School.
“Like other places in the County, the availability and affordability of housing in Sonoma Valley is stressed,” Gorin said. “This initial SV Connect forum is an opportunity to hear from the providers of homeless services, code enforcement, renters’ protections and affordable housing developers.”
Gorin said the discussion will cover the continuum of housing and service options in the Valley.
“This is an important step in identifying the needs of the community and working collaboratively toward solutions to help our families get the housing and services they need,” Gorin said.
Organizations from throughout Sonoma County will be present to share information with residents. Attending organizations include the City of Sonoma Planning Department, the County of Sonoma (Adult and Aging Services, Code Enforcement, Environmental Health Programs), Catholic Charities, Haven Sonoma, Petaluma People’s Services, Legal Aid of Sonoma Count, non-profit affordable and fair housing groups, and many more.
Future forums will include topics such as health and recreation, economic development and opportunities, and many more.
The series is sponsored by the County of Sonoma, City of Sonoma, and La Luz Center. For questions, please contact Jennifer Gray Thompson, Aide to First District Supervisor Gorin at 707.565.2989 or Jennifer.gray@sonoma-county.org.
The meeting is scheduled until 7:30p.m. Altimira Middle School is located at 17805 Arnold Drive.
