The life of Dave Neubacher, the beloved teacher who spent nearly 40 years at El Verano School, will be celebrated on Saturday, April 23, 1 to 3 p.m. at Altimira Middle School.

The popular figure passed away last month. A tireless, caring teacher, Neubacher was, said district superintendent Louann Carlomagno, the “the heart and soul of El Verano School.”

  1. Ms. Carlomagno is so right, Dave Neubacher was the heart and soul of El Verano School. He also gave his heart and soul to El Verano every day, weekends and vacations included. His caring heart and gentle soul live on in each child he taught, talked to, laughed with and encouraged. In hundreds of hearts and souls all over the country he is still with us.

  2. Mr. Neubacher was by far the best teacher I have ever had. He was my fifth grade teacher in 2000-2001 and I will never forget what I got to learn and experience in his class. His love for his students was incredible. Anywhere from night hikes, to tag in the dark, to planting over 1,000 trees, to coming in first place for a trip to Disneyland (but since his class had once four times prior, we went to marine world instead). Not only did he care about his students, but the environment as well. He will be missed incredibly.
