2987545The Sonoma Valley Jazz Society welcomes the 17-piece Electric Squeezebox Orchestra for a free outdoor show on Tuesday, June 14, as part of the 2016 Tuesday Night Market Series. Led by trumpeter Erik Jekabson, the communal big band, which has an ongoing Sunday residency in San Francisco’s North Beach, has become home base for the region’s top soloists and sidemen.

For the band’s 2015 release “Cheap Rent,” members wrote seven original songs, and created arrangements for covers originally composed by Wayne Shorter, Mel Torme, Herbie Hancock and Miles Davis. Might you end up dancing in the aisles of Sonoma Plaza’s Grinstead Amphitheatre? Jazz Weekly thinks so, noting, “This band is the perfect mix of heart, soul and feet.”
