Coroner identifies fisherman found in Windsor’s Riverfront Park

Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office and local emergency medical personnel were called to Riverfront Park, in the unincorporated area of Windsor, yesterday afternoon, June 15, 2016 at 4:38 PM. There was a report of a man down and unresponsive on the riverbank. He appeared lifeless and was surrounded by his fishing gear.

Deputies, Sonoma County Park Rangers and paramedics arrived and found a man deceased. There was no sign of trauma, foul play or anything suspicious whatsoever. It appeared that he likely suffered a medical emergency while fishing from the water’s edge.

The deceased is identified as Michael Christopher Panas, a 71 year old man from Sebastopol. His family was located and informed of his death.
