Boyes Boulevard Bridge back open after two-year rebuild

The new Boyes Boulevard Bridge opened to traffic Monday after a nearly two-year closure to completely replace the old span, part of the direct east-west route connecting Arnold Drive and Highway 12.
Officials including Supervisor Susan Gorin held a ribbon-cutting on July 16. Despite project shut-downs because Covid, a cement shortage, and the aftermath of the Glass Fire, the project came in on time, Gorin said.
The project began in September of 2019. It entailed the demolition of the existing bridge, constructing the new Boyes Bridge, finishing road improvements, and relocating utilities.
